Solar-powered water pumps work by converting the sun's rays (photons) to electricity that will operate the water pump. It uses solar panels to collect the photons (units of light) from sunlight, producing the direct current (DC) that provides the energy for the motor to pump water out from its source.
There are three types of solar pumps:
1. Solar submersible pump.
2. Solar open-well pump.
3. Solar mono-block pump.
SOLAR SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
A solar submersible pump system is a type of water pump that is powered by solar energy and is designed to operate while submerged underwater.
It consists of a submersible pump, solar panels, a controller, and a battery backup.
Submersible solar water pumps can be used for a variety of applications, such as:
SOLAR OPEN WELL PUMP
Open-well submersible pumps are used when the applications will face a frequent changes in water levels. It can be dropped and fitted to the bottom of an open well or sump pump, which gives it an advantage over traditional centrifugal pumps.
Open-well submersible pumps find their application in:
SOLAR MONO-BLOCK PUMP
A mono-block pump is an end suction pump that consists of a partially opened or closed impeller. It is a horizontal single-segment pump wherein all the revolving parts are fitted on a single shaft. Unlike couplings and belt drives, mono-block pumps have the unique feature of eliminating losses.
APPLICATION-
Some common applications where mono-block pumps are used: cooling water circulation systems, domestic water supply, irrigation, etc.
